Our Head Guide
George (GP) Monta
For 7th-generation Montanan George “GP” Monta, fly fishing isn't just a pastime—it's a legacy. His family first homesteaded the Big Hole Valley in 1868 before settling the Bitterroot Valley in the late 1890s. Now 30 years old, GP has spent his entire life exclusively on these waters. Growing up, the river was his only mentor. With a fly rod in hand and an obsession that started in childhood, GP taught himself the intricacies of the sport from the ground up. By spending thousands of solitary hours reading the currents, studying fish behavior, and honing his mechanics, he forged himself into the expert angler and guide he is today.
